Backyard Ultra of Northern Utah Rules
Rules are Subject to Change at the Direction of the Race Director.
The Race Director has the final say as to whether a runner is Disqualified or a DNF, no exceptions.
Runners must complete the 4.167 mile loop (Yard) every hour on the hour.
The Corral will be established at the beginning of the race and runners must be inside the corral before the sound of the bell on the hour every hour or they DNF.
Each Yard (4.167 mile loop) starts precisely one hour after the last.
Warnings will be given 3, 2, and 1 minutes before the bell.
All runners must start at the bell (no late starts) or they DNF.
Runners cannot leave the course until the Yard is complete (except for a restroom break) or they DNF.
Crew and non-runners cannot be on the course (including eliminated runners) or their runner will DNF.
Runners are not allowed to accept any form of aid during a Yard (other than words of encouragement). Aid shall consist of nutrition, hydration, pacing, or any other form of assistance other than verbal.
Each Yard must be completed within the hour in order for it to count.
Runners cannot use any artificial aid (including trekking poles).
Slower runners must yield/allow passes (slower runners should move to the right side of the trail).
Laps will be recorded, but lap times will not be kept.
There is only one Finisher (the “winner”).
Everyone else is a DNF (technically).
